SMY 88 Manuwai (YFB 16)
New 1/1250 scale model of the American naval ferry Manuwai by Saratoga (SMY 88) as in 1941.
Built 1927 by Supple & Martin, Portland, Ore., wooden-hull ferry; launched 7 November 1927; named Multnomah run on Willamette River at St.Johns Ferry. Made redundant with opening of St. Johns Bridge 1931.
Sold to Young Brothers, Ltd., Honolulu, T.H., renamed Manuwai. Towed to Hawaii by tug Mamo, April 1933; acquired 1940 by US Navy, placed in service 9 July 1940, designated ferryboat YFB-16. Present at Pearl Harbor 7 December 1941; one Battle Star.
Displacement 314 gross tons; 146'1'' x 40'6'' x 10'1'' feet; ( 44.5 x 12.4 x 3.0 meters); Atlas Imperial diesel engine, 250 bhp, 8 knots. complement 5; armament none;
Out of service 28 February 1949; struck from Naval Register 17 September 1954, final disposition unknown.
